If you are proposing a new invention or making a new theoretical claim, we prefer that the you have developed a working prototype of your invention or that you have well documented and repeatable experiments to prove your results for your claim. Our emphasis for paper selection will consistently be toward equipment that is actually built and working or experiments with good results. Papers on speculative theories, conspiracies, and pure refutations of current physics are not pertinent to this conference. We want tangible evidence in each case! LEARN MORE...

Jane Alcorn, Rich Gearns, Chris Wesselborg Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe Shoreham, New York Title: Status of Tesla’s historic Wardenclyffe laboratory: Environmental cleanup, ownership, and future vision Abstract: We will present a brief history of Tesla’s Wardenclyffe laboratory and report on the current status of the property. We will also show pictures taken recently on the site and in the laboratory itself, and report on recent events. In 1901, Nikola Tesla purchased 200 acres on Long Island’s north shore, in Shoreham, NY. The site became known as Wardenclyffe, after the former owner. Its purpose was the establishment of a wireless telegraphy plant, and it is now Tesla’s only remaining laboratory. Designed by the prestigious architect and Tesla’s friend Stanford White, the building is also a significant architectural landmark. In 1939, the Peerless Photo Company purchased the property to manufacture emulsions for photographic film and paper; in 1969, Peerless became part of Agfa-Gevaert, Inc. In 1987, manufacturing ended, and the site was closed down. In 1988, Agfa began the lengthy process of cleaning up inactive hazardous waste on the site from years of photo-processing activities, under the supervision of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). In 2007, after years of testing and feasibility studies, the major part of the cleanup took place. Which left the laboratory building and the tower base intact. In the spring of 2009, Agfa offered the property for sale. At a May 2009 rally at the site, the local community and officials of all levels of government expressed strong support for the preservation of Tesla’s historic laboratory. |
